A little boy went to a telephone booth which was at the cash counter of a store and dialled a number.
The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation:
Boy : Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?
Woman : (at the other end of the phone line) I already have someone to cut my lawn.
Boy : Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price than the person who cuts your lawn now.
Woman : I'm very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting my lawn.
Boy : (with more perseverance) Lady, I'll even sweep the floor and the stairs of your house for free.
Woman: No, thank you.
With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The store-owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy.
Store-owner: Son... I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit and would like to offer you a job.
Boy: No thanks.
Store Owner: But you were really pleading for one.
Boy: No Sir, I was just checking my performance at the job I already have. I am the one who is working for that lady I was talking to!

한 어린 소년이 상점의 계산대에 있는 전화 부스로 가서 전화를 걸었다.
상점 주인이 이를 목격하고 대화에 귀를 기울였다.
소년: 아주머니, 잔디 깎는 일을 저에게 주실 수 있나요?
여자: (전화선 저쪽에서) 나는 이미 다른 사람에게 잔디 깎는 일을 맡겼어.
소년: 아주머니, 지금 아주머니 잔디를 깎는 사람의 반값으로 잔디를 깎아드릴게요.
여자: 나는 지금 내 잔디를 깎고 있는 사람에게 매우 만족해.
소년: (더욱 인내심을 갖고) 아주머니, 제가 아주머니 집의 바닥과 계단을 공짜로 쓸어드리기까지 할게요.
여자: 아냐, 됐어.
그 어린 소년은 얼굴에 미소를 짓고, 수화기를 제자리에 놓았다. 이걸 모두 엿들은 상점 주인이 그 소년 쪽으로 걸어갔다.
상점 주인: 얘야... 네 마음가짐이 마음에 드는구나, 그 긍정적인 정신이 내 마음에 드니까, 너에게 일거리를 하나 주고 싶어.
소년: 괜찮습니다.
상점 주인: 하지만 너는 아까 일자리를 하나 달라고 했잖아.
소년: 분명히 아니에요. 저는 제가 이미 갖고 있는 일자리에 대한 나의 성과를 그냥 체크하고 있을 뿐이에요. 제가 전화를 걸었던 그 아주머니 댁에서 일하고 있는 바로 그 사람이에요!
이것을 .... "자가 평가"라고 부른다.
