Young people forget that we old people had a career before we retired.....
Charley, a new retiree-greeter at Wal-Mart, just couldn't seem to get to work on time.
Every day he was 5, 10, 15 minutes late. But he was a good worker, really tidy, clean-shaven, sharp-minded and a real credit to the company and obviously demonstrating their "Older Person Friendly" policies.
One day the boss called him into the office for a talk. "Charley, I have to tell you, I like your work ethic, you do a bang-up job when you finally get here; but your being late so often is quite bothersome."
"Yes, I know boss and I am sorry and am working on it."
"Well good, you are a team player. That's what I like to hear.”
“Yes sir, I understand your concern and I will try harder.“
Seeming puzzled, the manager went on to comment: “I know you're retired from the Armed Forces. What did they say to you there if you showed up in the morning late so often?"
The old man looked down at the floor, then smiled. He chuckled quietly, then said with a grin, "They usually saluted and said, Good morning, Admiral, can I get your coffee, sir?"

은퇴자인 찰리는 월마트에 고객 맞이 직원으로 새로 들어왔는데 시간 맞춰 출근하지 못하는 거 같았다.
매일 그는 5분, 10분, 15분 늦었다. 그러나 그는 좋은 직원이었다, 아주 말쑥한 차림, 깨끗한 면도, 명석한 사고와 회사에 대한 신용도 등이 좋았고 회사의 노인 친화 방침에 분명하게 맞았다.
어느 날 상사가 그와 이야기하려고 그를 사무실로 불렀다, "찰리, 말씀드릴 게 있어요. 나는 당신의 직업의식을 좋아합니다, 당신은 일단 여기 출근하면 일을 아주 잘합니다, 그러나 너무 자주 늦게 출근하면 좀 곤란합니다."
"알겠습니다, 매니저님, 죄송합니다, 그러고 노력하겠습니다."
"아, 좋아요, 당신은 팀 플레이어입니다, 그게 내가 듣고 싶은 말입니다."
"예, 매니저님의 배려를 이해하겠습니다, 그러고 더 열심히 노력하겠습니다."
매니저는 어리둥절한 듯 말을 이어갔다: "나는 당신이 군대에서 은퇴하였다고 들은 거 같습니다. 만약 당신이 아침에 그렇게 자주 늦게 나타났다면 거기서는 당신에게 무슨 말을 하죠?"
그 늙은이는 바닥을 내려다보았다, 그러고는 미소를 지었다. 그는 조용히 킬킬거리고는 밝게 웃으며 말했다. "보통 그들은 경례를 붙이고, 안녕하십니까, 제독님, 커피를 갖다 드릴까요?라고 말하죠"
