An accountant applies for the position of Chief Financial Officer. There are a number of candidates and he is called in for an interview.
They ask him a number of questions and one of the panel suddenly says, "What is nine multiplied by four?"
He thinks quickly and says, "Thirty five."
When the interview is over he goes outside, takes out his calculator and finds the correct answer is not thirty five.
He thinks, "Well, I blew that," and goes home very disappointed.
Next day he is rung up and told he has got the job. "Wonderful," he says, "but what about nine multiplied by four? My answer wasn't right."
"We know, but of all the candidates you came the closest."
어느 회계사가 자금 관리 이사직에 취업 신청하였다. 후보자가 많이 있었고 그가 인터뷰할 차례가 되어 불려갔다.
그들은 그에게 많은 질문을 하였는데 심사위원 중 한 명이 갑자기 말했다, "9 곱하기 4는 뭐죠?"
그가 재빨리 생각하고 말했다, "35입니다."
인터뷰가 끝나고 밖으로 나왔을 때, 그는 계산기를 꺼내어 정확한 답은 35가 아닌 걸 발견하였다.
그가 생각하였다, "음, 망쳤어," 그리고 아주 실망한 채 집으로 돌아갔다.
다음날 그는 전화를 받고 그가 취직되었다는 말을 들었다. "놀라운 일이군요," 하고 그가 말했다, "하지만 9 곱하기 4는 어떻게 된 겁니까? 제 답이 틀렸었는데."
"알고 있어요, 하지만 모든 후보자 중에서 당신이 가장 가까운 답을 냈습니다."
