The teacher decided to ask the class a riddle, "Does anyone know how to put 2 holes into one hole?"
None of the children knew the answer so it was their homework to go home and figure out how to put 2 holes into one.
The kids came back the next day and still, none of them knew the answer.
"I will show you the answer now children," says the teacher as he looks pretty chuffed with himself. He proceeds to hold his pointer finger against his thumb making a little ring.
He then puts the ring he made with his fingers over his nose and says, "look, here is the hole I made with my fingers and it is covering the 2 holes on my nose."
All of the children are very impressed apart from Little Johnny who stands up and asks, "excuse me sir, but do you know how to put 7 holes into one hole?"
The teacher replies, "I have no idea Johnny, why don't you tell us how do you put 7 holes into one hole?"
Little Johnny replies, "you simply sit on your recorder sir."

아이들은 아무도 그 답을 몰랐다, 그래서 집으로 가서 두 구멍을 한 구멍 속에 넣는 방법을 생각해 내는 게 그들의 숙제가 되었다.
다음 날 아이들이 돌아왔다, 그러고 여전히 그들 중 아무도 답을 몰랐다.
"이제 내가 너희들에게 답을 보여줄게, 얘들아," 하고 선생님은 아주 기쁜 표정으로 말했다. 그는 자기 검지를 자기 엄지손가락에 붙여 작은 고리를 만들었다.
그러고 나서 그는 자기 손가락으로 만든 고리를 자기 코에 대고 말했다, "이봐, 여기 내가 내 손가락으로 만든 고리가 있어, 그러고 그게 내 코에 있는 구멍 2개를 덮고 있어."
모든 아이들은 매우 감동했는데 리틀 자니만 예외였다, 그가 일어나서 물었다, "죄송하지만, 선생님은 한 구멍에 일곱 구멍을 넣는 방법을 알고 계세요?"
선생님이 대답하였다, "모르겠어, 자니, 너는 어떻게 해서 한 구멍에 일곱 구멍을 넣을 수 있는지 말해봐."
리틀 자니가 대답하였다, "간단히 선생님이 선생님의 피리 위에 앉으세요."
