A man was digging in his garden, when his shovel hit a hard object buried in the earth, which revealed itself to be an old bottle sealed with a cork.
The man wrenched the cork free and, to his astonishment, there was a cloud of smoke and a clap of thunder.
Standing before him was a genie. "As a reward for freeing me, I shall grant you three wishes," said the genie, "But understand, whatever you wish for, your most hated enemy shall receive twice over."
The man's most hated enemy happened to be his next door neighbour, Jones.
"Let's see. My first wish is..." He looked at his weather beaten bungalow, "...to live in a ten story luxury mansion."
The genie clapped his hands and suddenly his minute shack transformed into the most beautiful house he had ever laid eyes on.
He heard a cry of astonishment from next door and looked over to see Jones standing in the doorway of his new twenty story mansion.
"Now I want fifty of the most beautiful women imaginable." said the man.
There was a puff of smoke and his wish was granted.
He was annoyed, however, to see Jones grinning and waving, surrounded by his own harem of 100 women, all twice as attractive.
"What is your final wish, Master?" asked the genie.
"I want to lose a testicle," said the man.
어떤 남자가 정원을 파고 있었는데 삽이 땅속에 묻힌 딱딱한 물건에 부딪혔다. 그 물건이 모습을 드러냈을 때 보니 코르크 마개로 봉하여진 낡은 병이었다.
그는 코르크를 비틀어 떼어냈다. 놀랍게도 연기가 솟아오르고 천둥소리가 났다.
그의 앞에는 요정이 서 있었다. 요정이 말했다, "절 자유롭게 해 준 대가로, 세 가지 소원을 이루어 드리겠습니다. 그런데 양해하실 것은, 주인님이 무엇을 원하든, 주인님이 가장 미워하는 적에게는 2배가 이루어 질 것입니다."
그가 가장 미워하는 적은 우연히도 이웃에 사는 존스였다.
"어디 보자, 내 첫 소원은...." 그는 비바람에 찢긴 자기의 방갈로를 보며 말했다, "....10층짜리 호화 맨션에 사는 것이오."
요정이 손뼉을 치자 갑자기 그의 쪼끄만 오두막은 이제껏 본 일이 없는 아주 아름다운 집으로 바뀌어 졌다.
그는 옆집에서 놀라 비명을 지르는 소리를 듣고 쳐다보니 존스가 20층짜리 맨션 출입구에 서 있었다.
그가 말했다, "이젠 믿을 수 없을 만큼 아름다운 여자 50명을 원합니다."
연기가 푹하고 솟더니 그의 소원이 이루어졌다.
그렇지만 그는 존스가 2배나 더 매력적인 100명의 여자들에게 둘러싸여 히죽거리며 손짓하는 게 기분 나빴다.
요정이 물었다, "주인님, 마지막 소원은 무엇입니까?"
그가 말했다, "내 불알 한쪽이 없어지는 거요."
