The grandparents that were contributing heavily to their grandson's education visited him --unannounced -- at his college dorm.
His grandfather was astonished to find that his grandson was living a life of sin and corruption, as exhibited by the very high-heeled shoe nailed over the doorway, half empty liquor bottles and feminine lingerie and lacy undergarments strewn around his living quarters.
"In my day," grumbled the grandfather, "we would hang a horse shoe over the door for luck and then study late into the night hoping to pass our classes."
"But gramps," petitioned his grandson, "that is a whore's shoe."
손자의 교육에 많은 공헌을 했던 조부모가 예고 없이 손자의 대학 기숙사로 손자를 방문하였다.
할아버지는 손자가 죄악과 타락의 생활을 하고 있는 걸 보고 깜짝 놀랐는데, 대문간 위쪽에는 굽이 몹시 높은 하이힐 한 짝을 못으로 고정하여 전시하고 있었고, 그가 살고 있는 곳에는 반쯤 빈 술병과 여성 란제리와 레이스로 된 속옷이 여기저기 마구 널려 있었다.
할아버지가 불만스럽게 말했다, "내가 젊었을 적에는, 행운을 빌기 위해 호스 슈(말굽의 편자)를 문 위에 걸어두곤 하였어 그리고 그땐 학과에 낙오되지 않도록 밤늦게 공부하였어."
"그러나 할아버지, 저건 호스 슈(매춘부의 신발)입니다," 하고 손자가 빌었다.
