A company was in the process of downsizing when a boss approaches one of his department heads and tells him that he must terminate one of his divisional managers.
"Boy, that's a tough one," the department head tells him. "Both of my division managers, Jack and Jill are excellent employees. This will be a difficult choice for me."
He then decides what to do about making this choice. He comes up with the idea of laying off the first one who shows up last the next day.
When the next day arrives, both Jack and Jill are seated at their desks and both apparently had come into work at the same time.
He decides he needs another plan. This time he decides to lay off the first one who takes the longest lunch break.
But after lunch, both Jack and Jill return at the same time since they went out to lunch together.
"Okay," the boss tells himself, "I will lay off the first one who leaves work the earliest."
At the end of the day both Jack and Jill start to leave work at the same time, so he approaches Jill in the hallway and decides to relate to her his dilemma.
He tells her that his boss made it clear that one of the two must go and says to her, "I just don't know whether to lay you or Jack off."
"Oh!" She gasps, "You'd better jack off cause I got a bus to catch."
어떤 회사가 인원을 감축하고 있었다. 사장은 부장중 한사람에게 접근하여 그에게 그 부의 메니저들중 한 사람을 해고해야 한다고 알려줬다.
부장이 사장에게 말했다, "그참, 곤란한 일이네요, 우리부의 매니저들인 잭과 질은 둘다 우수한 직원들인데 그중에서 한사람을 고르라니 나로서는 참 어렵습니다."
그래서 그 부장은 골라내는 방법으로 이렇게 해 보기로 하였다. 부장은 다음날 가장 늦게 출근하는 사람을 해고할 생각이었다.
다음날 도착해보니, 잭과 질 둘 다 그들의 책상에 앉아 있었는데 둘은 같은 시간에 출근한게 분명하였다.
부장은 다른 계획을 세우기로 했다. 이번에는 점심시간이 가장 긴 사람을 해고하기로 했다.
그러나, 잭과 질은 같이 점심 먹으러 나갔다가 점심 식사후 둘다 같은 시간에 돌아왔다.
부장은 스스로에게 말했다, "옳지, 퇴근시간에 가장 먼저 자리를 떠는 사람을 해고시켜야지"
퇴근시간이 되자 잭과 질 둘 다 동시에 자리를 떴다. 그래서 부장은 복도에서 질에게 접근하여 그녀에게 자기의 디렘마를 알려주기로 했다.
부장은 그녀에게 사장이 둘중 하나를 해고키로 결정했다고 알려주면서 그녀에게 말했다, "당신을 해고해야 할지 잭을 그만두게 해야 할지 난 알 수가 없어."
그녀가 숨가쁘게 말했다. "오! you`d better jack off, 난 타고갈 버스가 왔어요."
