One night a wife found her husband standing over their baby's crib.
Silently she watched him. As he stood looking down at the sleeping infant, she saw on his face a mixture of emotions: disbelief, doubt, delight, amazement, enchantment, scepticism.
Touched by this unusual display and the deep emotions it aroused, with eyes glistening she slipped her arm around her husband.
"A penny for your thoughts," she said.
"It's amazing!" he replied. "I just can't see how anybody can make a crib like that for only $46.50."
어느날 밤 아내는 남편이 아기 침대를 굽어보며 서있는 걸 보았다.
아내가 가만히 지켜봤다. 남편은 자고있는 아기를 내려다보고 있었는데 그의 얼굴에는 경이, 의심, 기쁨, 경악, 황홀, 회의등 복잡한 표정이 서려 있었다.
평소와 다른 행동과 깊은 표정에 감동한 아내는 눈을 반짝이며 팔로 살짝 남편을 감쌌다.
"뭘 그리 멍하니 생각하고 있어?" 하고 아내가 말했다.
"놀랍군!" 하고 그가 대답했다. "단돈 46달라 50센트에 이런 아기 침대를 만들수 있다니 이해할 수가 없어."
