An elderly couple was on a cruise and it was really stormy. They were standing at the stern of the ship watching the moon when a wave came up and washed the old man overboard.
They searched for days and couldn't find him. The captain sent the old woman back to shore with the promise that he would notify her as soon as they found something.
Three weeks went by and finally the old woman got a fax from the ship. It read: "Ma'am, sorry to inform you, we found your husband dead at the bottom of the ocean. We hauled him aboard and discovered attached to his butt was an oyster. Inside the oyster was a pearl worth $50,000. Please advise."
The old woman faxed back: "Send me the pearl and re-bait the trap."
어떤 노부부가 유람선을 타고 있었는데 날씨가 아주 험악하였다. 그들은 선미에 서서 달을 지켜보고 있었다, 그때 파도가 덮쳐와 할아버지를 바닷속으로 쓸어갔다.
그들은 며칠을 두고 수색하였으나 할아버지를 찾을 수가 없었다. 선장은 그들이 뭔가를 찾게 되면 곧 할머니에게 알려주겠다는 약속과 함께 할머니를 뭍으로 돌려보냈다.
3주가 지나갔다 드디어 할머니는 그 선박으로부터 팩스를 받았다. 거기에는 이렇게 쓰여 있었다 : "부인, 이런 소식을 드리게 되어 유감입니다, 저희들은 바다 밑에서 사망하신 남편을 찾아내었고 남편의 둔부에 굴 하나가 붙어 있는 걸 발견하였습니다. 굴 안에는 50,000달러 상당의 진주가 있었습니다. 회신 바랍니다."
할머니가 팩스로 응답했다: "그 진주를 저에게 보내주시고 그 미끼를 다시 사용하세요."
