There was a young Scottish boy called Angus who decided to try life in Australia. He found an apartment in a small block and settled in.
After a week or two, his mother called from Aberdeen to see how her son was doing in his new life.
"I'm fine," Angus said. "But there are some really strange people living in these apartments. The woman next door cried all night long, and the guy upstairs bangs his foot on the floor all the time."
"Well, ma laddie," says his mother, "I suggest you don't associate with people like that."
"Oh," says Angus, "I don't, Mam, I don't. No, I just stay inside my apartment all day and night, playing my bagpipes."
앵거스라고 불리는 어린 스코틀랜드 소년이 있었는데 그는 오스트레일리아에서 살아보기로 하였다. 그는 작은 단지에 있는 아파트 하나를 찾아 자리를 잡았다.
한두 주일 뒤, 그의 어머니가 그녀의 아들이 새로운 데서 어떻게 살고 있는지 알아보려고 애버딘에서 전화를 걸었다.
"난 잘 있어요," 앵거스가 말했다, "하지만 이 아파트들에는 참 이상한 사람들이 살고 있어요. 옆집 여자는 밤새껏 울고, 위층 남자는 항상 자기 발로 마루를 쿵쿵 차고 있어요."
"음, 얘야," 그의 어머니가 말했다, "너는 그런 사람들과 어울리지 마라."
"오," 앵거스가 말했다, "안 어울려요, 엄마, 난 어울리지 않아요. 안 해요, 난 그냥 밤낮으로 내 아파트 안에 있으면서 백파이프를 연주하고 있어요."
