Oscar drove his brand new Mercedes to his favorite sporting goods store.
He parked it outside and went in to do a little perusing with Jan, his regular sales woman.
Jan was a pretty blonde, and as Oscar walked into the store, she happily greeted him.
But he requested to look around alone today before he needed her help.
She obliged and let him do his thing.
Five minutes later, Jan came running up to him yelling, “Oscar! Oscar! I just saw someone driving off with your new Mercedes!”
“Dear God! Did you try to stop him?”
"No," she said, “I did better than that! I got the license plate number!”
오스카가 아주 새 차인 메르세데스를 운전하고 그가 좋아하는 스포츠용품 가게에 갔다.
그는 바깥에 차를 주차하고 그의 단골 여점원인 잔과 함께 안을 좀 둘러보기 위하여 들어갔다.
잔은 아름다운 블론드인데, 오스카가 가게 안으로 들어오자, 그녀는 반갑게 인사하였다.
그러나 그는 그녀의 도움을 받기 전에 오늘은 혼자 둘러보겠다고 말했다.
그녀는 승낙하고 그가 혼자 둘러보도록 하였다.
5분 뒤, 잔이 그에게 뛰어와서 소리쳤다, "오스카! 방금 누가 당신의 새 메르세데스를 운전하고 나가는 걸 봤어요!"
"이런! 당신은 그 사람이 그러지 못하도록 막지 않았어요?"
"아뇨," 하고 그녀가 말했다, "그보다 더 중요한 걸 했어요! 제가 자동차 번호를 알아놨어요!"
