A little girl asked her mother, “How did the human race appear?”
The mother answered, “God made Adam and Eve and they had children, and so was all mankind made.”
Two days later the girl asked her father the same question.
The father answered, “Many years ago there were monkeys from which the human race evolved.”
The confused girl returned to her mother and said, “Mom, how is it possible that you told me the human race was created by God, and Dad said they developed from monkeys?”
The mother answered, “Well, dear, it is very simple. I told you about my side of the family and your father told you about his.”
한 어린 소녀가 그녀의 어머니에게 물었다, "사람은 어떻게 해서 나타난 거야?"
어머니가 대답하였다, "하느님이 아담과 이브를 만들었고 아담과 이브는 아이들을 만들었어, 그래서 모든 인류가 만들어진 거야."
이틀 뒤 소녀는 아버지에게 같은 질문을 하였다.
아버지가 대답하였다, "옛날 옛적에 원숭이들이 살았는데 그 원숭이들이 진화해서 사람들이 된 거야."
혼란스럽게 된 소녀가 어머니에게 도로 가서 물었다, "엄마, 엄마는 나에게 인류는 하느님이 만들었다고 말하고, 아빠는 인류는 원숭이들로부터 진화했다고 말했는데 이게 어떻게 가능한 거야?"
어머니가 대답하였다, "음, 얘야, 그건 간단한 거야. 난 너에게 외가 쪽을 이야기 한 것이고, 네 아빠는 너에게 친가 쪽을 이야기한 거야."
