Two elderly women were out driving in a large car -- both could barely see over the dashboard. As they were cruising along they came to an intersection.
The stoplight was red but they just went on through. The woman in the passenger seat thought to herself "I must be losing it, I could have sworn we just went through a red light."
After a few more minutes they came to another intersection and the light was red again and again they went right though.
This time the woman in the passenger seat was almost sure that the light had been red but was really concerned that she was losing it.
She was was getting nervous and decided to pay very close attention to the road and the next intersection to see what was going on.
At the next intersection, sure enough, the light was definitely red and they went right through and she turned to the other woman and said, "Mildred! Did you know we just ran through three red lights in a row! You could have killed us!"
Mildred turned to her and said, "Oh, am I driving?"
두 할머니가 길에서 큰 차를 운전하고 있었다. 둘 다 계기판 위로 겨우 볼 수 있었다. 그들은 계속 차를 몰고 가다가 교차로에 오게 되었다.
교통 신호등이 빨간불이었지만 그들은 그냥 통과하였다. 조수석에 앉아 있던 여자가 혼자 생각했다, "내가 정신이 나갔군, 우리가 붉은 신호등을 무시하고 달린 게 틀림없어."
잠시 후 그들은 또 다른 교차로를 만났고 신호등은 또 붉은 불이었는데 또 그냥 지나가 버렸다.
이번에는 조수석 여자가 신호등이 붉은빛이었다는 걸 거의 틀림없이 확신하고 있었지만, 그녀가 정신을 놓고 있는 것이 정말 걱정되었다.
그녀는 걱정이 되어 무슨 일이 벌어질지 몰라 도로와 다음 교차로에 바짝 주의를 기울이기로 하였다.
다음 교차로에서, 아니나 다를까, 신호등은 분명 붉은빛이었는데 그냥 통과하는 것이었다 그래서 그녀는 운전석 여인을 돌아보고 말했다, "밀드레드! 우리가 연달아 3개의 붉은 신호등을 그냥 지나쳤다는 걸 알고 있어! 네가 우리들을 죽일 뻔했어!"
밀드레드가 그녀를 돌아보고 말했다, "아, 내가 운전하고 있는 거야?"
