The CEO of a insurance company loses his Chief Actuary and hires a firm of headhunters to find a new one.
After a while they contact him to say they have five candidates for interview.
To their surprise he asks if any of them has only one arm.
After checking the files they indeed find one who has only one arm.
The CEO immediately says, "ok, I'll take him."
When asked why, the CEO replies, "I want an actuary who can make a decision. I'm fed up with actuaries who keep saying 'but on the other hand...'"
어느 보험회사의 최고경영자가 수석 보험계리인 자리가 비게 되자 인력 스카우트 회사에 새 수석 보험계리인을 고용할 테니 찾아달라고 하였다.
잠시 후 그 회사에서 연락이 와서 최고경영자에게 인터뷰할 사람으로 다섯 후보자가 있다고 말했다.
놀랍게도 최고경영자는 그들 중에 팔이 하나밖에 없는 사람이 있느냐고 물었다.
파일을 검토한 뒤, 그들은 정말로 팔이 하나밖에 없는 사람을 찾았다.
최고경영자가 즉시 말했다, "좋습니다, 그 사람을 채용하죠."
최고경영자는 왜 그러느냐는 질문을 받고 대답하였다, "나는 결단을 내릴 수 있는 보험계리인을 원하고 있습니다. 말할 때마다 계속 'but on the other hand... (하지만 다른 한편으로는)'라고 말하는 보험계리인에게는 질려버렸어요."
