A well-worn one-dollar bill and a similarly distressed twenty-dollar bill arrived at a Federal Reserve Bank to be retired.
As they moved along the conveyor belt to be burned, they struck up a conversation.
The twenty-dollar bill reminisced about its travels all over the country.
"I've had a pretty good life," the twenty proclaimed. "Why I've been to Las Vegas and Atlantic City, the finest restaurants in New York , performances on Broadway, and even a cruise to the Caribbean ."
"Wow!" said the one-dollar bill. "You've really had an exciting life!"
"So, tell me," says the twenty, "where have you been throughout your lifetime?"
The one dollar bill replies, "Oh, I've been to the MethodistChurch, the BaptistChurch , the LutheranChurch ."
The twenty-dollar bill interrupts, "What's a church?"
몹시 낡은 1달러짜리 지폐와 비슷하게 해어진 20달러짜리 지폐가 폐기되기 위하여 연방준비은행에 도착하였다.
그들이 소각되기 위하여 컨베이어 벨트를 따라 움직이고 있을 때 그들은 대화를 시작하였다.
20달러 지폐가 전 세계를 여행한 걸 회상하며 말했다.
"난 아주 재미있는 생활을 했어," 하고 20달러 지폐가 말했다, "나는 라스베이거스와 아틀랜틱시티에도 가 보았고, 뉴욕 최고급 식당과 브로드웨이 공연에도 가보았고, 크루즈를 타고 카리브해도 가보았어."
"와!" 하고 1달러 지폐가 말했다, "넌 정말 아주 재미있는 생활을 하였구나!"
"그러니, 자," 하고 20달러 지폐가 말했다, "너는 평생 어디 어디를 갔다 왔냐?"
1달러 지폐가 대답했다, "아, 난 감리 교회에도 가봤고, 침례 교회도 가봤고, 루터 교회도 가봤고."
20달러 지폐가 가로막고 말했다, "교회가 뭐야?"
