Jack participated in a competition for writing the shortest story.
The organizers had put a condition that the story must have four ingredients i.e. religion, sex, suspense and mystery.
Jack's turn came after many attempts by others. Jack read out his story, which comprised just one sentence: "Oh god, my wife is going to deliver a child."
Ostensibly amused, the organizers asked Jack to explain how it contained all the four ingredients.
Jack gave his explanation: "Religion is denoted by the words 'Oh God'. 'My wife' refers to sex. And 'going to deliver a child' indicates suspense - whether a girl or a boy."
Amused one of the organizers asked: "Okay... but where is the mystery?"
Jack replied, "Don't you see. There is no mention who is the father?"

주최 측은 이야기에 4가지 요소 예를 들면, 종교, 섹스, 서스펜스, 미스터리를 포함하여야 한다는 조건을 달았다.
다른 사람들이 많은 시도를 한 후 잭의 차례가 되었다. 잭이 그의 이야기를 읽었는데, 그건 단 한 문장으로 이루어져 있었다: "오 하느님, 제 아내가 아이를 낳으려고 해요."
주최 측은 표면상으로 기뻐하면서, 잭에게 그게 어떻게 4가지 요소를 모두 포함하고 있는지 설명해 보라고 요구하였다.
잭이 설명하였다, "종교는 '오 하느님'이란 단어로 표현되어 있습니다. '제 아내'는 섹스를 나타냈습니다. 그리고 '아이를 낳으려고 한다'는 건 딸인지 아들인지 하는 서스펜스(긴장)를 나타내고 있습니다."
흥미를 느낀 주최 측 한 사람이 물었다, "좋아요... 하지만 미스터리는 어디에 있나요?"
잭이 대답하였다, "모르시겠습니까? 아버지가 누군지 아무런 언급이 없잖아요?"
