A group of soldiers arriving in Jammu found themselves taking a surprise refresher course on first aid.
Following an involved lesson on making splints, dressing wounds and applying tourniquets to stop bleeding, the instructor decided to determine how well the class had grasped the information given.
"Santa," he said, pointing to one of the solders, "say your platoon leader sustains a head injury during a cross-country march. What do you do about it?"
"That`s easy, Sir," said Santa. "I wrap a tourniquet around his neck and tighten it until the bleeding stops."
잠무에 도착한 군인들은 그들이 예고 없이 응급조치의 단기 재교육을 받게 됨을 알았다.
그들이 부목을 만들고, 상처를 드레싱하고, 지혈을 위한 지혈대를 감는 방법 등이 포함된 교육을 받은 다음, 교관은 반원들이 배운 내용을 얼마나 잘 이해하고 있는지 알아보기로 하였다.
교관이 군인들 중 한 명을 지명하고 말했다, "산타, 너의 소대장이 국토종단 행진을 하다가 머리에 부상을 입었다면 너는 어떻게 할 거야?"
산타가 말했다, "그건 쉽습니다, 저는 소대장 목둘레에 지혈대를 감아서 피가 그칠 때까지 조이는 겁니다."
