A six-year-old boy told his father he wanted to marry the little girl across the street. The father being modern and well-schooled in handling children, hid his smile behind his hand.
"That's a serious step," he said. "Have you thought it out completely?"
"Sure," his young son answered. "We can spend one week in my room and the next in hers. It's right across the street, so I can run home if I get lonely in the night."
"How about transportation?" the father asked.
"I have my wagon, and we both have our tricycles," the little boy answered. The boy had an answer to every question the father raised.
Finally,in exasperation, the father asked, "What about babies? When you're married, you're liable to have babies, you know."
"We've thought about that, too," the little boy replied. "We're not going to have babies. Every time she lays an egg, I'm going to step on it."
6살짜리 소년이 아빠에게 길 건너에 있는 꼬마 소녀와 결혼하고 싶다고 말했다. 아이들을 다루는데 현대적이고 교육을 잘 받은 아빠는 손으로 입을 가리고 웃었다.
"아주 심각하구나, 너 그거 깊이 생각해봤어?" 하고 아빠가 말했다.
어린 아들이 대답했다, "그럼요, 우리는 내 방에서 일주일을 보내고 그다음 일주일은 그 애 방에서 보낼 거예요. 바로 길을 건너면 되기 때문에 만약 밤에 외로워지면 집으로 달려올 수가 있어요."
"오갈 때는 무얼 탈 거야?" 하고 아빠가 물었다.
"나는 사륜차(장난감)가 있고 우리 둘 다 세발자전거가 있어요," 하고 어린 소년이 대답하였다. 소년은 아빠가 묻는 질문마다 대답을 하였다.
드디어 아빠는 화가 나서 물었다, "아기는 어쩔 거야? 결혼하면, 아기가 태어나기 쉬워, 알아?"
"우린 그것도 생각했어요," 하고 꼬마 소년이 대답했다. "우리는 아기를 갖지 않을 거예요. 그 애가 알을 낳을 때마다, 내가 그 알을 밟아버릴 거예요."
