A church had a man in the choir who couldn't sing. Several people hinted to him that he could serve in other places, but he continued to come to the choir.
The choir director became desperate and went to the pastor.
"You've got to get that man out of the choir," he said. "If you don't, I'm going to resign. The choir members are going to quit too. Please do something."
So the pastor went to the man and suggested, "Perhaps you should leave the choir."
"Why should I get out of the choir?" he asked.
"Well, five or six people have told me you can't sing."
"That's nothing," the man snorted. "Fifty people have told me that you can't preach!"
어느 교회의 성가대에 노래를 못 부르는 남자가 한 사람 있었다. 여러 사람이 그에게 다른 곳에서 봉사할 수 있다고 힌트를 주었지만, 그는 계속해서 그 성가대에 나왔다.
성가대 지휘자가 참을 수가 없어서 목사에게 갔다.
"목사님이 그 남자가 성가대에서 나가도록 해주셔야겠습니다, 만약 그게 안 된다면, 저는 사임하겠습니다. 성가대 멤버들도 역시 그만두려고 합니다. 제발 뭔가 조치를 취해 주십시오."
그래서 목사가 그 사람에게 가서 말하였다, "아마 당신은 그 성가대를 떠나야 할 거 같습니다."
"내가 왜 성가대에서 나가야 하나요?" 하고 그가 물었다.
"음, 대여섯 명의 사람들이 나에게 당신은 노래할 줄 모른다고 말하더군요."
"그건 아무것도 아닙니다," 하고 그 남자가 코웃음을 쳤다, "50명의 사람들이 나에게 당신은 설교를 못 한다고 했어요!"
